Dalaman is one of 13 districts of Muğla. Dalaman Airport is within the boundaries of this district. After Ortaca became a district, there was no connected town. There are 26 neighborhoods. Dalaman, which is a district of Muğla Province in the Mediterranean Region, is located between Köyceğiz, Ortaca and Fethiye districts of the same province and Çameli district of Denizli province. East, north and west sections are mountainous and south is plain. The territory of the district is shaded by the Shady Mountains (2,295 m.), Bead Mountain (2,265 m.).
The foothills of these mountains, which extend parallel to the Gulf of Fethiye, are covered with leafy trees and high-cut forests with coniferous trees. Dalaman Plain, is the most fertile plains of the province of Mugla, Turkey is the most fertile plains in the world. Dalaman River is irrigated and the Mediterranean and Aegean Regions are located at the crossing point. Born in the vicinity of the Kocaş Mountain near Dirmil, Dalaman River is located between Marmaris and Fethiye. The total length is 229 km. Growing with the arms coming down from the Göktepe and Yaylacık Mountains of the Western Taurus Mountains, the growing tea flows in a narrow and deep valley, 8 km. It is poured into the sea from the south. The height of the sea level is 15 m. According to the results of the General Population Census of 2015; The total population is 37.406. Also located in Turkey's Akköprü Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant, which is the 6th largest dam in Dalaman district boundaries.
There is no archaeological excavation and surveys due to the fact that there is no knowledge of the history of the district. However, since it is in the ancient Carian region, it is thought that the history of the district is very old.Dalaman, which was the only municipality with the merger of Atakent and Dalaman towns which were previously connected to Köyceğiz District, was brought to the district position in 1983.It is thought that the ancient city of Euhippe is located in the north of the Caria region, next to Dalaman, where the Alaçatlı village (Alaca-atlı) is located.
